When I was a little girl, I could spend hours on the swing at my grandparents' house. I loved everything about it. The breeze blowing through my hair and under my skirt; the smell of fresh-cut grass; the gentle disappearing of daylight behind the trees. But what I liked most about being on the swing was the adrenaline of reaching new heights and the chills from the music playing in my Walkman. Let's move right on from the fact that I just dated myself, and onto the fact that I am now fixing to confess shamelessly: listening to Phil Collins' "...But Seriously" album (there I said it) while swinging high was what made me vibrate the most intense of emotions.
I believe that music has magical powers. The first powers that come to mind are of course self-expression, healing, sharing, and communities coming together. Powerful voodoo. But the one power I most value (use and abuse) is the power of getting turned on. Many of us listen to club music before going clubbing to get in the mood because it does exactly that, it energetically puts us in that place from which we will get maximum enjoyment out of the upcoming experience.
We can and absolutely should do the same in other areas of our lives! Listening to carefully picked songs before meeting a lover or taking a sexy nap (which is code for masturbating in the afternoon) sets an intention, almost like a declaration of a possibility that you are creating. The conscious choice you make of listening to a particular song before doing that opens up your mind to what you are about to experience, your heart to the emotions that will come forth, and your body to arousal.

Having been raised in a foreign, non English-speaking country, I was and still am used to focusing on the rhythm of a song rather than its lyrics. For me, a sexy song presents a strong beat yet a languorous rhythm. It is usually sung by a man whose voice melts like butter on toast. Blues, Rhythm and Blues and Soft Electronica are my favorites.
